Golf Tips – Top Tips on Making The Perfect Putt
How you move your shoulders while putting is the key to making a poor shot or a great one.
The only part of your body that should move during the putting stroke is your shoulders. Obviously your hands and arms will move putt they will stay in the same relative position right throughout the stroke.
The easiest way to visualize the correct movement is with the triangle method.
The Triangle Method
When you two arms form a triangle where the sides come together at a point where you hold the club you are using the triangle method. An imaginary line between your shoulders forms the base of the triangle.
The idea of the triangle method is that you want to keep your imaginary triangle together throughout the entire stroke.
This means your hands must remain firm and wrists cannot break or move at all. Keeping your wrists and hands steady is the key to a great putting game. If you let your wrists break during the golf putting stroke you will never be a good putter.
The rest of your body should remain steady throughout the putt. Your legs and hips should remain completely still. You do this so your weight stays centered over the ball. Any movement will cause you to lose your line and result in a bad putt. The same goes for head movement. Your head should remain still for the putt and for a little bit after.
One of the most useful golf tips I’ve heard is to try watching you shadow as you putt. This will help you spot what you are doing wrong almost instantly.
