Devil May Cry 3
Devil May Cry 3, is the second sequel to the popular video game. It was released in 2005 by Capcom after heavy criticism for the first sequel. Here’s more information about it.
The first game in the series was a hit. But the second game didn’t do so well. So when Capcom made Devil May Cry 3 they returned to many of the elements that made the first video game such a success. That means more fighting, and a generally harder game. The game sold 1.3 million units around the world. It also earned a lot of money. Game Informer called it one of the top video games of 2005. It had one of the best fight systems in the video game world. People could play it on a console or PC.
A hero, Dante, battles some demons his brother Vergil sends against him. When Dante defeats these creatures, a giant tower erupts out of the ground near his shop. Dante knows his brother is in that tower. As he fights his way through the dead bosses become weapons. These weapons are useful on subsequent levels.
But in the course of fighting through the tower and battling his brother, Dante learns that a man named Arkham is manipulating them in order to reactivate the tower, steal a powerful sword from the demon world, and use it to rule over the earth. Dante and Vergil eventually defeat the Arkham, then fight over the powerful sword, called the Force Edge. Dante wins the sword, and his brother chooses to stay behind in the demon world.
The plot is thin, but it drives the action from level to level and boss to boss. Each level is harder than the last. In the original game, made for Japan, hard was the highest level. Capcom decided to make that the medium level for North America, called normal. That meant that the hard mode in North America was even more difficult, considered by many to be too hard. People who liked the game still disliked this nearly impossible play level.
Game design isn’t easy. People said the second game in the series wasn’t hard enough. Capcom adjusted by increasing the difficulty of Devil May Cry 3 only to have that one criticized for being too difficult. It seems that if a game publisher gave out free gold, people would complain it’s too shiny.
By now Devil May Cry 3 is quite dated. But in its time it was a fun game that many people played.
